Richmond Summer 2014 Recreation Programs
SUMMER LEADER II
Applications are now being accepted for the Summer Leader II position at the Britannia Shipyards, National Historic Site. This person is mainly responsible to lead a designed program of games and activities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Developing, delivering and evaluating programs for children ages 4-12.
* Preparing all materials and managing resources for each program.
* Leads and organizes all games, crafts, activities and out-trips.
* Maintaining an assigned budget and current inventory of supplies.
* Training and providing direction to high school volunteers.
* Maintaining a positive and healthy learning environment.
* Liaising with Britannia staff, building staff and parents.
* Provides Special Event support.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* MUST BE A CURRENT FULL-TIME UNIVERSITY OR COLLAGE STUDENT RETURNING TO FULL-TIME STUDIES IN THE FALL.
* Background in history, museum studies, education or related fields.
* Demonstrated leadership experience with groups of children.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Emergency Child Care First Aid or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher)
A criminal record check and a flexible schedule with weekend work is required.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Supervisory experience
* Experience working with children that require extra support
* Class 4 Driver's license
* Second language
* Experience with cultural diversity
* Challenging behaviours course
* Coaching and leadership experience
* 20 hours of related childcare courses/workshops
HOURS OF WORK: June-August | Up to 35 hours/week | $14.75/hour
** Wages and period of employment dependent upon funding approval.
