(2 summer positions, funded through Young Canada Works)
14 weeks, 35 hours per week, $14.32/hr
May to August, 2015
Location of work: Legacy Art Gallery downtown, 630 Yates St., occasional work on campus and satellite exhibit and storage spaces.
Job description: Curatorial assistants at the Legacy Art Galleries are involved in a wide range of museum and gallery activities: research and project development support for summer and fall exhibitions and programs; exhibition design and installation; collections management procedures including cataloguing artwork for to ensure public access, moving art in and out of storage for exhibitions; and front desk reception (approximately 5-10 hours per week).
Qualifications: Second year or higher University student, in related academic discipline. Advanced computer skills in a Mac environment.  Accurate data input. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently and exercise good judgement. Ability to work as part of a team. Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
Please note this is a Young Canada Works funded position.  You are eligible if you:

  *   are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;Note: Non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.
  *   are legally entitled to work in Canada;
  *   will be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
  *   are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
  *   will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with YCW;
  *   have been a full-time student (as defined by your educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW job;
  *   intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.
