The Haida Gwaii Museum is seeking two post-secondary students for 
summeremployment starting May 11 until August 28. The following 
positions are available.

The Collections Assistant will assist with a variety of museum 
collection managementand curatorial tasks, such as: researching and 
preparing storage supports and packingartifacts; organizing and 
inventory of museum and education collection storage;updating 
documentation and database records; and helping photograph artifacts.

The Archival Assistant will assist the museum in the re-organization of 
the archives in preparation for ourlong-term digitizing and on-line 
project.The Assistant will also help with plans to make the archives 
accessible to community members.

The successful applicants will have aninterest in pursuing a career in 
museums or archives, good research skills, effective interpersonal and 
organizational skills, and excellent written and spokenEnglish language 
skills.Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in the history and 
cultures of FirstNations of the Pacific Northwest, in particular the 
Haida and Island culture of HaidaGwaii. Candidates with collection 
management and/or museum experience areencouraged to apply.All qualified

minorities,and Aboriginal peoples are encouraged to apply for the position.

The museum is located on Haida Gwaii in Skidegate, BC.The wage is $ 
16.00 per hour for 35 hours per week.

This position is funded by Young Canada Works and subject to hiring 
restrictionsimposed by that program. The position is open only to 
applicants between the ages of 15 and 30, who attended school full time 
last year and intend to return to schoolfull time next year. Applicants 
must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
