*Description*

This workshop will be a mix of hands–on sessions, lectures, and 
discussion. The workshop will

explore the following topics;

·Preservation of material culture for staff or volunteers with little to 
no experience in the care of collections.

·Introduction to the care of collections for staff working in Aboriginal 
cultural centres and related organizations.

·Explore how various types of materials deteriorate, how to minimize 
this deterioration, and identify problems of storage.

·Examine various display techniques of artifacts.

·Learn how to make informed choices regarding the long-term preservation 
of collections.

*Target Audience*

Aboriginal cultural centre staff (or others in the community) with 
little to no knowledge of how to care and protect a mixed collection.
