*‘WildMen’ *Jim Kalnin & Lucas Glenn


Okanagan artists Jim Kalnin and Lucas Glenn come together in Lake Country
Art Gallery's latest exhibition titled ‘WildMen’.


In this exhibition Kalnin investigates and challenges the how we respond
and interact with the natural world around us. Kalnin’s work consists of
large semi-abstract acrylic and oil paintings along with a series of small
watercolour paintings. Kalnin reaches into human cultures, religions, world
views and ecological studies for thought and subject for his new series of
paintings.


Jim Kalnin taught art for 22 years at Okanagan College, Okanagan University
College and UBC Okanagan. Since retiring in 2009, Jim has rekindled his
interests in making art, travelling and delving deeper into life’s great
mysteries.


Lucas Glenn installation titled, ‘Goods for Men (Real Good Strong Men)’
looks at the media and consumerism in relation to male identity, and
problematic attitudes associated with masculinity such as ego, patriarchy,
and anthropocentrism. Glenn’s work brings together satire, pseudo-history,
and humour.


Glenn graduated from UBCO in 2015 with a focus on installation art and
philosophy.


‘WildMen’ is up at the Lake Country Art Gallery from September 30th through
to November 14th. Join us Wednesday September 30th from 6-8pm for opening
night, artists will be in attendance.


Artist Talk with Jim Kalnin and Lucas Glenn with be on Saturday October 3rd
at 3pm at the Lake Country Gallery.
