Hello museum folks!
Hope your day is going well. An inquiry for anyone who has recently (or, not so recently) installed new windows in their buildings that house collections. We are putting in some new windows in our foyer, and looking into options for UV/Solar films or glazes. Does anyone have any product recommendations, tips or horror stories to share that might help us on our way?
The location of the windows is south facing, so it does receive a lot of light that will illuminate the foyer, and allow some diffused light into our exhibit space. I really love the idea of opening up the foyer, but I am concerned with letting in too much natural light. At this point, the architect would like to eliminate these windows, which would be great for preservation, but terrible for the visitor experience.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. My email is: scma_manager at dccnet.com
Cheers,
