Salary Level: $13.50/hour
16 weeks, 30 hrs/week, pending funding approval 
Immediate Supervisor: Administrator 
Supervisor: Curator 

General Responsibilities and Functions: 
Reporting to the Curator the Gallery Assistant engages visitors regarding the exhibitions presented at the Gallery 2. The candidate will: 
      Ensure that the gallery spaces are opened and closed on time 
      Collect admission donations and maintain attendance records 
      Host visitors to exhibitions 
      Initiate discussions about the exhibitions on view 
      Inform the public of Gallery 2’s educational and public programs 
      Promote Gallery 2’s membership program to visitors 
      Assist the Curator with exhibition installation and take-down 
      Provide assistance to the Administrative, Educational, Curatorial, and Gift Shop departments as required
   
Qualifications: 
The candidate: 
       Is enrolled in a museum studies, fine arts, or education program 
       Has good knowledge of and keen interest in contemporary visual art and museum practices 
       Has a proven ability to communicate effectively in English; a second language is an asset 
       Has a working knowledge of Microsoft Office 
       Is comfortable interacting with people and public speaking 
       Possesses the ability to work both independently and in a team environment 
      Was a full-time student in the year proceeding the YCW job and intends to return to full-time studies in the fall of 2016.
