Title: Art Adventures Supervisors

Duration: 12 weeks | 35 hours per week

Start and end dates: May 30 - August 19, 2016

Language of Work: English

Wage: $15.00 per hour
Positions available: 2

The Kelowna Art Gallery is hiring two summer students to organize and teach our Art Adventures summer art camps for children ages 3 to 12. The Art Adventures program has been running for over twenty years, and is one of the most popular summer programs in Kelowna. The Art Adventures Supervisors will contribute to public awareness of and access to the programs and services offered by the Kelowna Art Gallery. The supervisors will also be responsible for creating and organizing community outreach initiatives and activities at local festivals and events. Training will be provided on gallery procedures, classroom management, and working with various age groups of children.

Qualifications:

*         Applicants must be full-time college or university students between the ages of 18 and 30 and returning to full-time studies in the fall

*         Ideal candidates will have had prior experience working with children

*         Applicants must be patient, creative, self motivated and work well with a team

*         Knowledge of various art materials and techniques is strongly encouraged

*         First aid training and previous experience in a gallery or museum environment are assets
