We're looking for the right person to fill our General Operations
Manager position. This is a full-time, permanent, salaried position at
Britannia Mine Museum. Details below:
Reporting to the Executive Director, this key senior leadership position
is responsible for ensuring the Museum site is effectively and
efficiently utilized to achieve business goals including tours,
programming, and 3rd party rentals (primarily filming). The General
Operations Manager provides the leadership and management necessary to
ensure that the organization has the proper operational controls,
maintenance and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to
ensure success on all levels including marketing, sales and tourism,
educational tour delivery, historic site preservation, and financial
oversight. The Manager will ensure that the Site is branded and
aesthetically pleasing, well maintained, clean and safe for staff to
work at and visitors to enjoy
The Britannia Mine Museum's mission is to inspire the exploration of
individual and societal connections to British Columbia's mining; its
past, present and future. The Britannia Mine Museum is governed by the
Britannia Mine Museum Society, which is a registered charity. The Museum
attracts 76,000 visitors annually and is experiencing growth. Our
visitors come from both local and tourism sectors, and we attract all
ages.
You will be practical in your approach and passionate about the goals
and objectives of a museum. You are characterized as a motivating leader
with a high degree of integrity and a proven track record of positive
staff engagement. You will be a leader that values a collaborative team
approach and will use your experience to support museum engagement
through programming, exhibits, events and educational endeavours. You
will work closely with other senior managers and liaise with the
departments within the Museum.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience with considerable
supervisory responsibilities
* Post-secondary education. The degree/certificate should be focused
on public or business administration/management, project management or
facility management
* Some working knowledge of trades such as plumbing, electrical or
carpentry
* Knowledgeable with contract management for film negotiation
* Management or operational experience in a museum, tourist
attraction, or similar not for profit is highly desirable
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
* Personally value the role museums play in providing education and
tourism activities to community and province.
* High comfort level of working in a busy and diverse environment
