Port Coquitlam, BC - Bring your family and friends for fun summer experiences each week at the Farmers Market, Village Vibe Performing Arts Series, Music in the Park, and Cinema Under the Stars-all free events taking place at Leigh Square and local parks! Here are the events for the eighth week of Summer in the City.

Cinema Under the Stars - Friday, Aug 19th at 9pm, Gates Park
Join us for our final feature; Star Wars (PG-13). Three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a new threat arises. The First Order attempts to rule the galaxy and only a ragtag group of heroes can stop them, along with the help of the Resistance. This evening of Cinema Under the Stars is sponsored in part by G&F Financial Group.

Village Vibe Performing Arts Series*-Saturday, Aug 20th from 2-4pm at Leigh Square
Karen Fowlie delivers a solid show of original Country/Rock songs. Karen's voice might remind you of Kathleen Edwards or Shari Ulrich. Fowlie's songs were featured in the Province Playlist and her music represented BC in a trade mission to Japan. Karen now hosts the Fowlie & Friends Variety show with comedy similar to the Carol Burnett show and music from the Vancouver area. Episode 1: Love was highly received and featured a cast of 14. www.fowlieandfriends.com<http://www.fowlieandfriends.com>

Western Jaguar. Western Jaguar is a modern indie rock band that incorporates a wide array of influences into their dynamic and atmospheric compositions and heartfelt melodies and vocals which strive to connect with the listener. Their distinct sound touches on elements of post-rock, art rock and dream pop, and are the 2015 CIVL Radio Battle of the Band's winner. Emma Beaumont of On The Come Up TV has heralded the group as having created a "whole new realm of music". Western Jaguar is comprised of Jeffrey Trainor (Vocals, Guitar), Kier-Christer Junos (Vocals, Guitar), Brent Webb (Vocals, Bass) and AJ Buckley (Drums).

Music in the Park**-Sunday, Aug 21st from 12-1pm at Leigh Square
David Beckingham, a founding member and nearly decade long guitarist and vocalist with Hey Ocean, just released his debut album Just When The Light on May 27, 2016. The songs chronicle a tumultuous time in his life and touch on themes of love, loss, loneliness, redemption and the light that becomes more visible on the other side of darkness. The record is a mix of finger-style folk songs and earnest driving ballads with beautiful harmonies and arrangements. www.davidbeckingham.com<http://www.davidbeckingham.com>
