Job Description:                This is a full time, permanent, salaried
position starting in October 2016.



Nelson is a vibrant arts and heritage community, highlighted as one of the
top Small Art Towns in Canada.  Touchstones is a destination centre.  In
the heart of the Kootenays, Nelson has a multitude of recreational
opportunities.



The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible
for Touchstones’ ongoing and day to day operation including managing:

·         Gallery Space, City of Nelson Archives, permanent Museum

·         a staff of 5 employees and various contractors

·         finances, accounting and budgeting

·          Overseeing  the development of exhibitions and educational
programs

·         the development of fund raising events and marketing and
promoting the organization

·         grant application writing and liaison with existing and
prospective funding agencies

·         community relations with the organization

·         Board projects and planning for the future of the organization



The successful candidate will demonstrate the following knowledge and
skills:

·         excellent written and oral communication skills

·         the ability to work both independently and in team situations

·         experience working with non-profit organizations

·         post-secondary education or equivalent experience in relevant
disciplines

·         knowledge of relevant legislation governing employee relations

·         knowledge or museums and art galleries with respect to their
general policies, procedures and priorities

·         supervisory experience

·         marketing, promotion and fund raising experience

·         grant application experience

·         leadership and motivational skills

·         the ability to prioritize, plan ahead, and meet deadlines

·         proficiency with computer communication, accounting and web
systems
