Village Vibe Performing Arts Series: every Saturday from July 2 to August 27 (2-4pm)
Music in the Park: every Sunday from July 3 to August 28 (2-4pm)

Port Coquitlam, BC - Bring your family and friends for fun summer experiences each week at the Farmers Market, Village Vibe Performing Arts Series, Music in the Park, and Cinema Under the Stars-all free events taking place at Leigh Square and local parks! Here are the events for the fourth week of Summer in the City.

Cinema Under the Stars - Friday, July 22nd at 9pm, Sun Valley Park
This week's feature is Zootopia (PG), In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy. This evening of Cinema Under the Stars is sponsored in part by G&F Financial Group and will also feature a BBQ by the PoCo Youth Crew, a volunteer community group. All proceeds from the BBQ will go to the PoCo Youth Crew.

Village Vibe Performing Arts Series*-Saturday, July 23rd from 2 to 4pm at Leigh Square
Jack Garton and the Demon Squadron. Demon Squadron formed in 2013 and named after Garton's grandfather's special ops flight squadron in WWII. Just like Garton's squadron, the band is a highly-trained crew of Vancouver's most unique musical talent. From rockabilly to rocksteady, country to Cajun, every show is roots music mayhem executed with classic showmanship and wry humour. While touring Western Canada, Washington State and Alaska, the Squadron has been honoured to serve on festival main stages, concert halls, theatres, clubs and cook-outs. It's all in the line of duty for BC's rambling servicemen and women as they continue to wage Garton's campaigns of heavy honesty and devastating joy throughout the region. jackgarton.com/demonsquadron/

Music in the Park**-Sunday, July 24th from 2 to 4pm at Leigh Square
Double Helix. Double Helix is made up of Tony and Peter Chotem. They grew up surrounded by music and artists of various kinds. Tony and Peter learned from their father the value of originality and the need to develop both as composers and as players.  Their jazz sets stand out due to the large percentage of originals that are included.  Another important lesson they learned from their father was the value of versatility and that there are no real boundaries in music.  They are equally happy improvising to an ancient Celtic melody as to a 20th century blues standard.  Last but not least, they learned the value of good arranging.  Even familiar standards sparkle with fresh ideas and unexpected arrangements.


THIS WEEK'S FARMER'S MARKET THEME IS - Playing With Clay

*Village Vibe Performing Arts Series takes place on a covered outdoor stage at Leigh Square every Saturday afternoon from July through August and features emerging performers in dance and music and creative writing. The program is free and provides opportunities for local artists to gain exposure and experience in front of a live audience. The series runs rain or shine and everyone is welcome.

**Music in the Park features the finest professional musicians from across Metro Vancouver playing a variety of genres including jazz, blues, folk, world fusion, and contemporary. It takes place on a covered outdoor stage at Leigh Square every Sunday at 2 pm throughout July & August. The series runs rain or shine, is free, and everyone is welcome.
