[BCMA] Funding Notification More But Less...... a question to you...

We received funding for 4 students, 1 for 10 weeks, 3 for 9.  That puts our 10 week university student finishing up his weeks by July 15 leaving him 7 weeks of unemployment before he heads back to school. Doesn’t make sense.

Our news was similar – we were happy with notification for 1 student @ 12 weeks, but had requested 16 weeks. Luckily, we are still in the middle of a renovation project, so this time frame will work out.

Yes, we had the same news. 5 students for 10 weeks. However, this is more weeks overall than we have received in the past. Its difficult to accomplish very much and offer much training in 10 weeks. But we’ll take what we can get. Everything helps.

Hi Everyone,

We just got our official CSJ notification for 4 students… but for less money than we got last year for 3 students. Last year it was 3 students for 14 weeks, this year it is 4 students for 9 weeks.

Frankly I cannot see how we can accept this offer. We already top up the wage and pay all the MERC’s, and usually extend the students a couple of extra weeks. As we are also a visitor centre, each student is required to take about a two week training program to get their provincial travel counsellor certificate.

Based on this offer from the feds,  at best I think we could afford to  hire 2 students and then extend and top up for 14-16 weeks.

So I am curious, have other of you found that your offer from CSJ  this year is similar to ours, with more students but significantly less weeks?
