I guess the Clinton Museum is afflicted with the same policy problem. Our students were approved, but for fewer weeks. The problem now is in finding kids who are willing/able to work for only 10 weeks, or in finding the funds to extend their work terms!

I guess this represents Trudeau's way of fulfilling the promise to hire twice as many students (bodies)…unfortunately there was no mention up front that the positions would not be for the full 16 weeks. This is a bit unfair to the students who were hoping for (and needing) full summer employment to fund their schooling - and to the museums who will not have students to cover the entire summer.

We got the one student we asked for, but for only ten weeks instead of the 14 we usually get. We have no choice but to accept; ten weeks funded is still easier on tight budgets than no weeks funded.

Hi Everyone,
We just got our official CSJ notification for 4 students… but for less money than we got last year for 3 students. Last year it was 3 students for 14 weeks, this year it is 4 students for 9 weeks.
Frankly I cannot see how we can accept this offer. We already top up the wage and pay all the MERC’s, and usually extend the students a couple of extra weeks. As we are also a visitor centre, each student is required to take about a two week training program to get their provincial travel counsellor certificate.
Based on this offer from the feds, at best I think we could afford to hire 2 students and then extend and top up for 14-16 weeks.
So I am curious, have other of you found that your offer from CSJ this year is similar to ours, with more students but significantly less weeks?
Cheers
Lee
