[BCMA] Mystery Object

Hello Oana,

                It's hard to see from the image but possibly a bobbin of some sort? Being a tailors and it having a hollow core possibly it was wound with thread and placed on a peg of a sewing machine? I've worked with some sewing machines that would have used something similar, though much smaller, but this may be a 'professional' thread bobbin.

                There may be a better term than bobbin, I feel like I'm saying it a lot. I've attached an image of a sewing machine from our educational collection. The bobbin of thread would go on that peg and be threaded through.

A visitor came into the museum a few nights ago to ask us if we could identify something in her collection.

Does anyone know what this is?  It's a hollow wooden tube with a dark green label.  From the label we could make out only the name of the store, Collisters, which sold sewing goods.  Thus it's probably something used by tailors?
