Dear BCMA Member:

Our little museum here in Princeton has been going through some changes
lately. We are currently in the process of trying to come to an
agreement between the Princeton & District Museum & Archives Society
(that runs our museum) and the Town of Princeton as to how our museum is
governed and funded. Rather than reinventing the wheel it would be very
helpful for us to know how other (particularly small-town) museums
function.

Below is a list of questions. If you could take the time to answer them
we would be extremely grateful. The answers would be really helpful in
our negotiations with the Town.

Thank you!

Rika Ruebsaat

President

Princeton & District Museum & Archives Society

/What is the approximate population of the community serviced by your
museum?/

/Is your museum open year-round?/

/If not, what months are you closed?/

/What are your museum’s opening hours/

/Is your museum run by a non-profit society or by the municipality?/

/Do you have paid staff? If so, how many?/

/Is your staff employed by the museum’s non-profit society or by the
municipality?/

/What is your approximate annual budget?/

/What amount of money does your municipality contribute to the running
of your museum?/

/In what form does your museum receive this money – is it in the form of
a grant-in-aid, a line item or does the museum receive it in some other
manner?/

/Who owns your museum building?/

/Who maintains your museum building?/

/Is there an agreement between your municipality and the museum’s
non-profit society?/

/Is this agreement a lease or a memorandum of understanding or does it
have another form?/

/Do you hold public events in your museum e.g. lectures, wine-and-cheese
gatherings, fundraisers?/
