The Royal BC Museum is issuing a general call for a Guest Editor to assist with the next issue of Curious Online Magazine. The Winter 2016 Issue will be a First Nations lens into the Royal BC Museum and Archives collection. We are excited to pursue more guest-curation opportunities and the content will be generated and edited by individuals from First Nations communities across the province.
Role
The Guest Editor should be from, or have strong ties to a First Nations' community in British Columbia. The editor does not need to be based in Victoria, but may need to travel to the museum.
Duties

*       Help identify and establish 8-10 content contributors

*       Work with Royal BC Museum staff to refine the issue's theme

*       Coordinate contributors and all content submissions, including text, audio and video

*       Provide interview opportunities for contributors in remote locations via teleconference, phone, etc. (teleconferencing training will be provided)

*       Edit, polish and enhance the online manuscript to create the best experience for visitors

*       Coordinate translation of selected content, if required

*       Post content to a WordPress site (familiarity with content management systems is an asset but not mandatory, training will be provided)

*       Provide ongoing communication to all stakeholders
About the Magazine
Launched in 2013, Curious makes content generated by museum and archives knowledge staff (curators, archivists, etc.) and partners available to wide audience in a reader-friendly format. The interface takes advantage of full-screen technology to allow visitors to experience rich text, imagery and a diverse selection of audio and video clips. Duration and Remuneration
The role is voluntary, but an honorarium of $5000 is available. The workload is approximately 100 part time hours spread out over a six month period beginning in early October, 2016. Approved travel costs will also be covered.
