Recently graduated Museum Studies students are invited to apply for a position as a Collections Intern at the Museum at Campbell River.  Situated on Northern Vancouver Island the Museum at Campbell River is the largest regional museum in the area with a mission "to collect, preserve and interpret the human history of our area".



The Museum Society was established in 1958 and is currently located in a 21,000 square foot purpose built building which opened in 1994. It is operated to a high professional standard and is designated as a Category 'A' Institution by the Department of Canadian Heritage, Cultural Property Export & Import Act. The Collections Intern at the Museum will be responsible for undertaking a project to improve accessibility and documentation for a portion of the Museum's First Nations Collections. They will be responsible for creating/updating database and paper records for these artifacts, including cataloguing and photographing the artifacts, as well as some research specific to each artifact.
Museum Studies, History and Anthropology graduates will find excellent practical experience for their academic training in this position.  Applicants should be proficient at Microsoft Office. Experience with database systems, digital cameras and scanners is a requirement. Excellent communication skills, familiarity with or interest in regional and local history and an ability to work well independently is required.

Salary: $16.00/hour. Start date: Nov. 15, 2016 to Mar. 31, 2017.
