Digital Stories by Burnaby WomenWednesday, October 26, 7-8 pm Tommy Douglas Library, 7311 Kingsway, BurnabyJoin us for a screening of six remarkable digital stories in recognition of Women’s History Month this October. The stories were produced through a partnership between SFU’s Faculty of Education and Burnaby Village Museum. The short films being featured on October 26 were written and produced by local women, and tell personal stories of survival, triumph, and loss. The past century has been one of incredible change for Canadian women, and these stories offer examples of how individual women’s lives have been shaped by the history of our time. The films were produced as part of the Elders Digital Storytelling Project, which began in 2014 as a partnership between Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Education and the City of Burnaby. Funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Council of Canada (SSHRC) and AGE-WELL NCE grants, the project helped older adults create short autobiographical films that tell a special story in their lives, complete with music, photos and narration.Register for free for this program online or by calling 604-522-3971.http://bpl.bc.ca/events/digital-stories-by-burnaby-women
