Steveston's Indoor Winter Market Returns to Historic Cannery
RICHMOND, BC - The Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society is pleased to announce that the Cannery Farmers' Market is back for a third season. Set to open its doors Sunday, November 6th, this unique spin on the traditional winter market invites you to enjoy the wares of modern local vendors and artisans while strolling the halls of our heritage inside the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site in the historic fishing village of Steveston, BC. The market will operate every other Sunday to the end of April 2017, with three Sundays in December (see below for market dates).
>From 10 am to 3 pm on market days, visitors will enjoy a friendly atmosphere surrounded by local food and artisan vendors, musical entertainment, and community groups, all inside a unique cultural setting. Executive Director, Rebecca Clarke stated, "The Cannery is excited to start its third season of the Cannery Farmers' Market. We believe it is a great value-added opportunity for market goers to experience a market in a 120-year-old heritage site and for heritage lovers to shop from local producers. A little something for everyone with food, music, gifts and history."
With our 'Make It, Bake It, Grow It, Catch It' local motto, the Cannery Farmers' Market is dedicated to featuring food producers and craftspeople hailing from the Lower Mainland, the BC Interior, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. Vendors include returning favourites Wheelhouse Seafoods, Gesundheit Bakery and Ladner Artisan Chocolate, as well as new highlights such as the Sons of Vancouver Distillery, Trinity's Tea and much more.
Admission to the market is free. Guided heritage tours of the historic Cannery will be offered on market days by donation.
The market will run from November to April, on the following dates: November 6 & 20, December 4, 11 & 18, January 29, February 12 & 26, March 12 & 26, and April 9 & 23.
