[BCMA] FREE AABC workshops in September - a few spaces available!

Dear Colleagues,
Thanks to the generous funding by Library and Archives Canada, Documentary
Heritage Communities Program (DHCP), the AABC will be hosting 2 workshops
this month on the topic of "Managing Archives". Throughout the day we will
review and discuss topics including basic archival principles, appraisal,
accessioning, deaccessioning, processing records and preventative
conservation. Workshop #2 (Terrace, BC) is an expanded 2 day workshop on
these themes and will also cover the topics of reference and copyright.
These workshops are absolutely FREE to our members and those in our
extended heritage community. I apologize for the short notice but there a
few spaces left in each workshop so please RSVP to me by Friday, September
9 if you would like to join us for this educational opportunity!

*Workshop #1 (Kelowna, BC) - 5 spaces left*
*Date:* Tuesday, September 13, 2016
*Location: *Okanagan Heritage Museum; 470 Queensway Avenue

*Cost:* The cost of the 1 day workshop is FREE! You just need to make your
own arrangements for travel to/from Kelowna. Workshop teaching materials
(PowerPoint handouts and other worksheets) will be provided.
*Hours:* Workshop will start promptly at 9:00am and run until 5:00pm.
*Parking:* Parking is located adjacent to the building.
*Coffee breaks/lunch:* Coffee breaks will be supplied by the AABC.
Participants are responsible for their own lunch. The Kelowna Museum and
Archives is located less than a block away from a main street where there
are a number of places to eat. There are also a number of park spaces
nearby if you want to bring your own lunch and head outside during the
break!
*AABC Thompson-Okanagan Regional Members Meeting:* Time has been set aside
at the end of the day to have a short regional meeting.

*Parking:* Parking is located on site. The building is wheelchair
accessible.
*Coffee breaks/lunch:* Coffee breaks will be supplied by the AABC.

*AABC BC Northwest Regional Members Meeting:* Time has been set aside at
the end of Day 2 to have a short regional meeting.
