[BCMA] Museum Assistant positions at the Quesnel Museum

The Quesnel & District Museum and Archives has two positions available for summer students who qualify for the Young Canada Works program.  The period of employment is subject to confirmation of grant funding.



The Curatorial Assistant will have the opportunity to contribute to a number of ongoing projects which will provide the student with an understanding of a broad range of museum operations including collections registration, exhibit development and digitizing and indexing a photograph collection.  The student will undertake interviews to record life stories and document the growth of community organizations.  We will be reorganizing our archival storage area to make room for compressed storage.  The student will assist by relocating archival materials and updating collections records, encapsulating maps and making supports and covers for textiles.





The Education and Events Co-ordinator assists with the delivery of education programs and outreach activities during community festivals.  In 2017 he or she will be responsible for planning and implementing a children's activity day in July and to provide support for the organizers of the North Cariboo Pioneer Festival in August.   He or she will also prepare promotional material and social media content for the museum's web and Facebook pages.


Both students assist with daily operations (visitor reception, gift shop sales, research requests, exhibit maintenance, special events) and have the opportunity to select an individual project.
