[BCMA] ARCS Volunteers Seeking Museums in the Vancouver area

On Thursday, November 2, 2017, as part of the Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists (ARCS) Conference, we will hold a day of volunteerism for local museums. How to Become a Les Bénévoles Site

We are now soliciting proposals for the 2017 meeting. The ARCS conference will be held November 3-5, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.  Our volunteer day will take place on Thursday, November 2nd prior to the start of the conference.

YOUR PROPOSAL MUST ENTAIL the following:
-- A description of your organization (size, type of collection(s), number of staff, number of volunteers) and why you need our help
-- The number of volunteers your organization can reasonably accommodate
-- The names and titles of staff who will be on hand to assign projects and supervise the volunteers
-- Confirmation that you will be able to host this event on November 2nd (9am -5pm)
-- Indicate whether or not you will be able to help with transportation to and from the hotel
 
And most important of all:
-- List as much detail as possible about the projects that you would like assistance with (examples of past projects include: cataloging objects; inventorying discreet collections; rehousing costumes and archives; condition reporting objects and assessing condition/conservation concerns in the exhibit areas)
-- List the supplies that you will need for these projects *that you do not already have on hand*

If your organization is selected to host this event, ARCS WILL SUPPLY THE FOLLOWING:
-- The requisite number of trained collections professionals to volunteer for the day
-- Transportation to and from the hotel for the volunteers (unless you can help out)
-- Supplies for the projects (that's why we'll need a detailed list as far in advance as possible so we can order the supplies for you)
In essence, you get a day of professional assistance for FREE! 

Please note that most likely only one museum will be selected for this event, but if we have an excess of volunteers two museums might be selected.

How to Volunteer for Les Bénévoles

We encourage professional registrars and collections specialists to volunteer for the day to help catch up on projects such as:

* accessioning
* condition reporting
* rehousing objects

--actually, any projects that may be benefited by having help from trained professionals.

To be a Bénévole for this event - click the volunteer box on the registration form <https://www.arcsinfo.org/programs/2017-vancouver-conference/registration> when you register for the conference.  At the close of conference registration, you will be sent a confirmation and further details.
