[BCMA] Job Posting: Exhibit Preparator (Auxiliary)

The Burnaby Village Museum is searching for Exhibit Preparators to work in an auxiliary capacity in two different roles.  The first role will be primarily involved in the production and maintenance of exhibit displays, including creating permanent, temporary, and travelling exhibits according to plans and specifications. The work will involve constructing displays using various media and materials, performing technical and trades tasks of limited complexity in constructing, assembling, and installing a wide variety of display cases, models, exhibits and mounts for artifacts.The second role will research and prepare outdoor displays, including creating displays using light, sound, and multi-media effects. The work will involve performing technical and trades tasks of limited complexity in constructing, assembling, and installing outdoor displays; researching display techniques and materials, and purchasing products.These positions may also assist with other skilled display and graphic design and trades work at the Museum, including applying various wall treatments as background for displays; photographing exhibitions for documentation purposes; and assisting in designing graphic artwork.Qualifications for this role include graduation from a Community College in commercial or graphic arts design plus some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
