New Exhibit Opening - The Pull of the Net

RICHMOND, BC - The Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is pleased to announce a new feature exhibit for Canada's 150th, The Pull of the Net: Commercial Fishing in Canada<http://gulfofgeorgiacannery.org/exhibits/the-pull-of-the-net-commercial-fishing-in-canada>. Opening May 6, 2017, with a free, family-friendly multicultural celebration, the exhibit examines how fishing on the East and West coasts has helped shape Canada's cultural identity, and celebrates the story of the people, places, and achievements of the commercial cod and salmon fishing industries.
Exhibit curator Shannon King, Manager of Audience Engagement comments, "Fishing has a special place in the hearts of many people, especially in Canada's coastal communities like Steveston. The Pull of the Net celebrates the allure of fishing on both East and West Coasts of Canada." Featuring largely visual and interactive displays, the exhibit explores the historical and modern importance of fishing for all Canadians, engaging visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
