** It's Been a Hot Summer!
------------------------------------------------------------
The weather has been hot, hot, hot, but that hasn't slowed activities at the Ranch. Despite the recent hazy skies, visitation has increased and events are going strong. Our Corn Maze (http://okeeferanch.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f9abbe84adeaefd86c157e916&id=6837b43083&e=1e053e65a6) is a great way to give the whole family even more to do while visiting the Ranch. We've had several sold out Cowboy Dinner Shows (http://okeeferanch.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f9abbe84adeaefd86c157e916&id=d99fa987de&e=1e053e65a6) which proves its continued popularity. Our new weekendFamily Friendly Programming (http://okeeferanch.us3.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=f9abbe84adeaefd86c157e916&id=65fef45706&e=1e053e65a6) in the O'Keefe Kids Korner and Victorian School Lessons have been a great success. The Ranch horses (http://okeeferanch.us3.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=f9abbe84adeaefd86c157e916&id=68edae639f&e=1e053e65a6) have busy giving tours steadily all season. We've also had evacuees from around the province visit the Ranch or stay with us over the last while and we are trying our best to make the Ranch a warm and welcoming place for
everyone. And to top it off, the O'Keefe Family Reunion last Sunday was the most heartwarming and memorable experience for everyone involved. This summer has been one for the books and we are not done yet... our doors are open until Sunday, October 1st.

** Message From the President
------------------------------------------------------------
A new season is slowly approaching as the summer draws to a close and the crisp, early-morning air reminds us that autumn is just around the corner. Remember though, it is almost a full month before school starts again, and as you look for activities to do with your family, be sure to remember O'Keefe Ranch.
This year is our 150th anniversary season, and we are proud to feature such events and exhibitions as "The History of O'Keefe Ranch in 50 Objects", "The Gallery of Cowboy Treasures", "Leading Ladies" and "Native Cowboys" from around the time of the O'Keefe Ranch's inception. We are also excited to bring back many of the community's perennial favourites including our very own Cowboy Dinner Show and the ever-popular Corn Maze, which is bigger, better, and more elaborate than ever this season.
As with the change in seasons, there are ongoing changes at O'Keefe Ranch, and your Board of Directors is working together not only to ensure that the experience you have at the Ranch remains vibrant and fresh, but also to ensure that the living, operating piece of our local history that is O'Keefe Ranch remains a viable part of our community into the future. Thanks in large part to the generous support we receive from the members of our community and from the City of Vernon itself, the Board of Directors is excited about the coming changes that support makes possible.
Please stay tuned, check our website often for updates on exhibitions and events, and drop in often for what is sure to be a fun, unique and entertaining experience each and every time you visit us at the Historic O'Keefe Ranch.
Max Russman
President, O'Keefe Ranch Board of Directors

Kids can create a pastel masterpiece in the O'Keefe Kids Korner inspired by the current exhibition Leading Ladies. As always, our special events also offer guests stagecoach rides, pony rides, tractor rides, mansion tours, and old fashioned games. New this summer, we are offering a curator’s tour of the Ranch by horse drawn wagon with Carla-Jean Stokes. ** From the Curator
------------------------------------------------------------
14-18: The First World War Illustrated. In commemoration of the 100^th anniversary of the end of the First World War, O’Keefe Ranch will be exhibiting images reproduced from the extensive collection of glass lantern slides, housed in the Ranch’s archives. This exhibition will examine the ways in which war was represented in the years 1914 to 1918, and the Ranch invites members of the public to share their own wartime photographs. Our curatorial staff will scan the photographs as per museum standards, and will return them to their owners. The reproductions will be put on display in the Greenhow Museum and will be shared online with that soldiers’ service record. In exchange, contributors will receive digital copies of their photographs and will share their family and friend’s wartime stories. For more details, or to share your photographs, please contact our curator at curator at okeeferanch.ca (mailto:curator at okeeferanch.ca) . Exhibition runs from May – October, 2018.

** Current Exhibitions
------------------------------------------------------------
The History of O'Keefe Ranch in 50 Objects - we've gathered 50 of the most important objects to tell the O'Keefe story. Some are on display in the Greenhow Museum, but you'll need to find the rest around the site.
Staying Home: Photography, Family, Memory - how have photographic objects come to take up space in our homes and our lives? How did the ways in which we collected and experienced those objects change over time? Check it out in the Greenhow Museum, and be sure to snap your own Victorian Photo Studio Selfie.
Leading Ladies - who were some of Vernon and area's most accomplished women? Come read their stories and let us know who you think is a Leading Lady today.
The Gallery of Cowboy Treasures - a brand new gallery in the Greenhow Museum to house the famous Jade Saddle and all of O'Keefe Ranch's most beautiful cowboy gear. It might have been a rough-and-tumble life in the old west, but these guys and gals knew how to wrangle in style.
Native Cowboys - the best cowboys in the North Okanagan were those who knew the land the best. Learn their stories when you stroll through the Cowboy Bunkhouse.
