SUMMER 2018 - COMMUNITY SERVICES ASSISTANT 1 - JUNIOR LEADERS (HERITAGE PROGRAMS)

SCOPE
The City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation and Culture Department provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and may be looking for an enthusiastic Community Services Assistant 1 - Junior Leader (Public Programs) at the Historic Stewart Farm.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Services Assistant I - Junior Leader (Education) will be responsible for:

*         Assisting in the development of an Education Kit based on an existing school program;

*         Re-organizing existing information into a teacher's in-class package and assist to source and order teaching collection objects;

*         Leading children in heritage Summer Day Camps;

*         Doing heritage demonstrations;

*         Assisting with researching crafts, games and activities;

*         Interpreting local history and assisting with special events;

*         Program preparation and delivery.

The Community Services Assistant I - Junior Leader (Public Programs) will be responsible for:

*         For leading children in heritage Summer Day Camps;

*         Performing heritage demonstrations;

*         Assisting with researching crafts, games and activities;

*         Interpreting local history;

*         Assisting with special events;

*         Program preparation and delivery.


QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications for both the Junior Leader (Education) and Junior Leader (Public Programs) are:

*         Previous experience working with children and the public, and delivering programs to pre-school and child audiences;

*         Experience in a heritage facility setting;

*         Students enrolled in Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, Archaeology or Education will be suited to this position;

*         Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificates are required;

*         Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by some relevant experience or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience is required;

*         These positions are contingent on grant funding. Successful candidates must meet the criteria set forth by the grant program. For specific qualifications please view the posting on SurreyCareers.ca.
