Beyond The Wheel

The City of Port Coquitlam welcomes the public to the opening reception for Beyond the Wheel by Laura Giesbrecht on February 9, 7-9pm in the Michael Wright Art Gallery, 2253 Leigh Square Place, Port Coquitlam. The exhibit is free and the reception includes complimentary refreshments and light snacks.

When we think of pottery, we often have the image of a coffee mug or round bowl in our minds. Beyond the Wheel is a display of works by artist Laura Giesbrecht, in which the wheel is only a starting point for the vessel. Thrown and altered, as well as hand built works will demonstrate that while the potter’s wheel may have been the most important invention in pottery, it does not define the art of clay.
