Nurture your love of nature at the Royal BC Museum this March
VICTORIA, BC-March brings animal-themed programs, pop-up performances and the return of the popular Museum Happy Hour to the Royal BC Museum.
Do you have aspiring shutterbugs in your family? Sign them up for the Royal BC Museum's Spring Break Camps<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/64088/spring-break-camps> where they can develop their budding photography skills. Don't miss out! Only a few spots are left. March 20-24 (sold out) and 27-31, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, $223 per person, ages 7-11.
Ever felt like your kids are behaving like animals? Come to Wonder Sunday<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/103927/wonder-sunday-animal-families> to find out how animals parent their offspring. Bring the family on March 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Attendance is included with admission or membership.
European Wall Lizards are overrunning our province! Find out more from Dr. Gavin Hanke, Curator of Vertebrates, at Live @ Lunch Lizard Invasion, a lunchtime lecture in Newcombe Conference Hall on Wednesday March 1 at noon, admission to talk by donation.
Animated animal annals are the feature of this month's Stories at Helmcken House<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/103939/stories-helmcken-house-animals>. Come for an afternoon of live storytelling from the Victoria Storytellers' Guild<http://www.victoriastorytellers.org/>. Saturday, March 18 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Included with admission or membership.
Have you been so moved by a performance that you wanted to stand up and join in? That's the premise of the pop-up participatory choir Why We Are Here!, presented as part of the Belfry Theatre's Spark Festival. Warm up your voice and sing along on Monday, March 13 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. $10 per person.
Museum Happy Hour is back! On select Thursdays from 5:15 pm to 7:00 pm, wind down after work with adult-only events at the museum. Each evening has a different theme and is hosted in one of the core galleries. All of them have food, drinks and fun.
The first Museum Happy Hour event is on Thursday, March 9. Come to the Teacher's Lounge<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/103971/museum-happy-hour-teachers-lounge> on the third floor in the Becoming BC gallery. You don't need to be a teacher; you just need a love of learning and fun.
Do You Mind?<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/103972/museum-happy-hour-do-you-mind> Thursday, March 16 is about slowing down and being mindful through yoga, meditation and more (or less) in the Natural History gallery on the second floor.
Celebrate Indi-genius<http://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/visit/events/calendar/event/103973/museum-happy-hour-indi-genius> on Thursday, March 23, the last Museum Happy Hour in March. Open Space, an artist run centre, will be exploring the dynamic relationship between historical Indigenous art objects and contemporary Indigenous art practices in the First Peoples gallery on the third floor.
Museum Happy Hour is $10 per person and 19+ only. Drinks available for purchase. Light snacks provided.
