[BCMA] New board members at the Royal BC Museum

Royal BC Museum welcomes two new Board members
VICTORIA, BC-The Royal BC Museum welcomes Tewanee Joseph and Gordon Fitzpatrick to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Joseph is the Chief Executive Officer of Tewanee Consulting Group Inc. He is a member of the Squamish First Nation, and is half Maori. Mr. Joseph served eight years on the Squamish Nation Council, and has a talent for facilitation and coordinating diverse groups to identify and achieve their goals. He has utilized his skills to work on a broad range of initiatives, including First Nations federal legislation, First Nations Land Management, Strategic Communications and Governance.

In the past, Mr. Joseph served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Four Host First Nations Secretariat for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. He worked with the Vancouver Organizing Committee and its partners to ensure unprecedented Aboriginal participation in the planning, hosting and staging of the 2010 Games. Mr. Joseph holds a Business Administration Diploma and Associate of Arts Degree from Capilano College.

Gordon Fitzpatrick is President of Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards and was former President of CedarCreek Estate Winery, which was twice named Canada's Winery of the Year at the Canadian Wine Awards.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was a member of the founding Board of Directors of Destination BC and was a Member of the Minister's Council on Tourism. Mr. Fitzpatrick also served as Chairman of the B.C. Wine Institute and was a Director of the Canadian Vintners Association.  In addition, he is also a Director of Greata Ranch Holding Corporation.  He was the founding Co-Chair of the Okanagan Partnership and a Director of the Economic Development Commission of the Central Okanagan Regional District.  He also served as a Director of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Bid Corporation.

>From 1986 to 1996 Mr. Fitzpatrick worked in the mining industry, serving as Vice-President, Corporate Relations and Secretary of Viceroy Resource Corporation.  Mr. Fitzpatrick is also experienced in government, having served as Director of Western Operations, Office of the Leader of the Opposition and as Special Assistant to the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien, Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources/Minister of External Affairs. Mr. Fitzpatrick holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) Degree from the University of British Columbia.

Mr. Joseph was appointed on October 21, 2016. Mr. Fitzpatrick was appointed on December 14, 2016.
