[BCMA] Municipal Funding

Hello Catherine,

                While it may not fall directly under the requirements for this funding it may be useful to contact the local/regional/provincial tourism associations. They should be able to give you numbers as to how much museums and archives bring into communities dollar wise for your area or in the province in general. In a past position to try to justify some funding from the municipality we were able to use numbers from a tourism body to show that as a institution we brought in $X amount into the local economy.

Our organization is applying to the Bowen Island Municipality for "Community Organization Multi-Year Core Funding" for our museum and archive. To be eligible we have to demonstrate that we deliver services to the Bowen Island community that would typically be funded by the municipality in other jurisdictions.
Does your municipal government provide funding to cover some or all of your museum and archival expenses?
Are you funded through municipal grants? Or is there core funding provided by the municipality?
I am not looking for specifics just some general guidelines about how other municipalities support (or do not support) their local museums and archives.
Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.
