Faces of the Fraser Returns July 22^nd with Science Educator Erica Williams
Learn about our local geological history…and see some cool rocks!
New Westminster, B.C. – The Faces of the Fraser speaker program at the Fraser River Discovery Centre (FRDC) returns Saturday, July 22^nd at 1pm. Erica Williams, a science and geoscience educator, takes us on a journey into the past to learn about the Fraser Valley as we know it.
“The Fraser Valley has changed and developed significantly over time into what we see today,” said Stephen Bruyneel, FRDC Executive Director. “We are excited to invite Erica Williams to the FRDC to tell us more about how that occurred.”
Erica Williams has been involved in education as a science and geoscience educator for 44 years. She has had many roles, including President of the Maple Ridge Historical Society, and a proof reader and map-maker for BC History Quarterly. This session will not only include a talk by Ms. Williams, but also a hands-on examination session of rocks and fossils from the Fraser River Basin.
“We understand there are some very interesting rocks to look at,” added Mr. Bruyneel, “as well as some local fossils!”
The Faces of the Fraser speaker series is an opportunity for the community to engage with knowledgeable professionals and community members who want to share their experiences about our mighty river. The event is free to the public, but only a limited number of seats are available, so pre-registration is appreciated.
