"Famous Figures: 125 years of Vernon History" interactive exhibit opens

Location: Greater Vernon Museum & Archives
Museum Hours: Tues - Sat. 10am-4:30pm

Participate in a new interactive display that includes fun facts, trivia, and selfie opportunities with life size replicas of Vernon's 'famous' figures. The "Famous Figures: 125 years of Vernon History" display integrates 'famous' figures that helped shape Vernon's past and is in celebration of Vernon's 125th year of incorporation. Spot a young Allan Brooks, the debonair William Fraser Cameron, the talented Sveva Caetani, among many others, and snap a selfie with your favorite. Post your selfie on facebook (#vernonmuseum), Instagram (#vernonmuseumeducation), and Snapchat (vmuseum) and view what others have posted.

Don't forget to pick up your accompanying exhibit questionnaire at the front desk to test your local knowledge. Let your creative juices flow too! Those who complete the "What Were They Thinking?" insert will be entered into our draw for a Canadiana Gift Basket valued at $125! Prize draw will take place Tuesday October 3rd, 2017, with the exhibit running until September 30th.

This is a very exciting time for arts and heritage in Vernon. The Museum is on the cusp of reaching out to the greater Vernon community to garner support for a new centralized, multifaceted cultural facility. This exhibit is just a preview of what your Museum of the near future can be, and some of the new ways we will be interacting with the community. It is about beginning a dialogue on how we can be a destination for everyone who lives and comes to Vernon, a place where you can come back often and stay for a while. We want to make the museum a cultural hub that is open to new ideas and one that is welcoming to all. We'd love to hear your input!
