> Between 12pm-4pm everyone is invited to join us on the Terry Fox Plaza at BC Place for a free Block Party celebrating the Baton's visit to Vancouver. Provincial Sporting Organisations will be bringing along activities, there will be music, facepaint, giveaways & of course photo opportunities with the Baton!

> Admission into the BC Sports Hall of Fame will be free all afternoon, and the day's entertainment capped off with a free  'Hero in You' presentation by Honoured Member Brent Hayden.

> The deadline for nominations to the BC Sports Hall of Fame is approaching. Remember we need your help to make sure the best of BC sport are being considered for induction. Members of the public have until October 1 to submit nominations for the 2018 Class of Inductees. can be submitted by any member of the general public.

> Congratulations to our Honoured Members in the news recently:

> THELMA WRIGHT (inducted 2000) was inducted into the Athletics Canada Hall of Fame in July.
>  
> Quite a spring for 2017 inductee MARK RECCHI, who won his 5th Stanley Cup as the Pittsburgh Penguins player development coach, was named to the Hockey Hall of Fame's 2017 induction class, and was promoted to be an assistant coach with the Penguins.
>  
> Alongside RECCHI, PAUL KARIYA (inducted 2015) was also named to the Hockey Hall of Fame's 2017 induction class.
>  
> CHRISTINE SINCLAIR, honoured team member as part of the 2012 Canadian Women's Olympic Soccer Team (inducted 2015), was named to the Order of Canada.
>  
> JACK TAUNTON (inducted 2014) travelled with a team of sports medicine doctors to Uganda to help raise knowledge and awareness of sports medicine. 
>  
> It is with sadness we acknowledge the passing of the following BC Sports Hall of Famers. We extend our condolences to their families, friends, teammates and all who cared for them.

> Inducted in 1986, MACK BURTON, honoured team member with the 1964 BC Lions. Born 1939, died May 22, 2017.

> Inducted in 1966, MIKE HARRIS, honoured team member, 1954 UBC-VRC Eights Rowing Crew. Born

> 2017 Summer Programming
> Every summer the BC Sports Hall of Fame offers summer programming for day camps and community centre groups. This year we are off to a great start having close to 1,000 young people participate in the you CAN do it summer program. Participants tour the hall, try new activities and learn that with practice and hard work they CAN accomplish their goals. We still have some opening in August for the program - so please do share this opportunity with any summer program leaders you may know.

> A selection of Canadian uniforms and jackets spanning over 80 years was installed in time to celebrate Canada's birthday.
