Art Adventures Summer Student Positions



Title: Art Adventures Supervisors

Duration: 14 weeks | 35 hours per week

Start and end dates: May 29 to September 1, 2017

Language of Work: English

Wage: $15.00 per hour
Positions available: 2

The Kelowna Art Gallery is hiring two students to organize and teach our Art Adventures summer art camps for children ages 3 to 12. The Art Adventures program has been running for over twenty years, and is one of the most popular summer programs in Kelowna. The Art Adventures supervisors will contribute to public awareness of and access to the programs and services offered by the Kelowna Art Gallery. The supervisors will also be responsible for creating and organizing community outreach initiatives and activities at local festivals and events. Training will be provided on gallery procedures, classroom management, and working with various age groups of children.


The ideal candidates possess the following qualities, knowledge and experience:

*         Must be full-time college or university students between the ages of 18 and 30 who are returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2017

*         Must be working towards a university degree in visual arts, art history, education, or a related field

*         Have previous experience in a gallery or museum environment is an asset

*         Have knowledge of various art materials and techniques

*         Have previous experience creating and implementing age-appropriate art lesson plans

*         Have previous experience working with people and children in a social learning environment

*         Must be creative, outgoing, self motivated and work well with a team

*         The ability to provide a recent and valid criminal record check

*         Have up-to-date first aid training

*         Are able to speak French (not a requirement)
