[BCMA] Call for BC Museums Week materials

Hello again everyone,

BC Museums Week planning is in full swing!  Thanks to everyone who has
already signed up for our Facebook Event

on what their museums are planning – lots of great ideas!



I am throwing together some ideas for the BCMA’s own social media posts for
the daily themes

and am looking for some help.  I don’t want to take away from your own
posts, but would love to showcase our industry through the BCMA’s account.
If you have anything for the following themes, please consider sending them
to me (photos to go with your short stories are very helpful!), but feel
free to also post on your own:



*Museum People*: do you have a great photo of your museum staff or board
hard at work, or a story of a lifelong volunteer, etc?



*Cultural Exchange and Museum Partners*: how have you engaged in cultural
exchange with another museum, your community, local government, members of
the GLAM sector?  Do you have a great partnership you want to highlight?
Show/tell us how you partner and exchange.



*Contribution of BC Museums*: Show/tell us why your museum is vital to your
community.  What contributions do you make?  What role do you play?  How do
you engage with government?



*Contested Histories*: this topic relates to International Museum Day. How
have you approached presenting contested histories in your museum?  What
are the contested histories you’ve come across?



*Reconciliation and the Future*: How does your museum work towards
reconciliation?  What successes do you want to share?  What’s on the
horizon for your museum?



**Please note: any photos with people can only be shared if you have their
written permission to share/use (usually with a written and signed media
permission form).  Please ensure you only share images with the BCMA that
you have permission to share.
