[BCMA] Question - How to best dispose of de-accessioned artefacts?

Hi everyone,

 

I'm looking for advice about how best to dispose of de-accessioned items
from a museum collection :)

 

We are de-accessioning two pianos. They lack donor information or paperwork,
so we can't contact the families,

Mainly, I'm wondering if it is acceptable to offer them for free to the
general public? 

.It seems a shame, but the only other solution we have arrived at so far is
to pull them apart for scrap,
