Funding

Community Gaming Grants<http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/sports-culture/gambling-fundraising/gaming-grants/community-gaming-grants#three>- Arts and Culture. Deadline to apply is May 31, 2017. Applications for this sector must provide
public access to and/or preservation of the arts, heritage or culture. Local organizations can apply for funding up to $100,000 per year, regional organizations up to $225,000 per year, and province-wide organizations up to $250,000 a year.

Aboriginal Community-Based Training Partnerships Program<http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education-training/post-secondary-education/aboriginal-education-training/call-for-proposals> - Call for Proposals. Deadline to Apply is June 2, 2017. The
Ministry of Advanced Education is undertaking a call for proposals for the Aboriginal Community-Based Training Partnerships (ACBTP) Program.  Contracts may run for up to 25 months, between January 2018, and February 2020.  ACBTP funds partnerships between public post-secondary institutions and Aboriginal communities to deliver programs that improve access to education and training within Aboriginal communities and increase participants’ attachment to the labour market.

Elders Grants<http://www.newrelationshiptrust.ca/funding/for-groups-organizations/elders-grants>- Taking applications until June 6, 2017. The New Relationship Trust (NRT) provides a maximum of $2,000 per
projects that benefit Elders and/or Elders groups at the community or Nation level. The purpose of the initiative is capacity building that enhances knowledge, abilities, skills and processes in areas such as language and culture, mentorship, leadership and team building.

Indigenous Early Years Scholarships and Bursaries.<http://www.nrtf.ca/funding/indigenous-early-years-scholarships-and-bursaries> Deadline to apply is June 8, 2017. The New Relationship Trust Foundation
(NRT Foundation) is pleased to announce the launch of a new $1 million Indigenous Early Years Scholarship and Bursary program. Those who identify as Indigenous persons and are residents of British Columbia are eligible for the Indigenous Early Years Scholarship Program in areas of study that align with early years’ professions including early childhood education, early intervention therapies and supports, and other para-professions.

Language Nest Program (FPCC)<http://www.fpcc.ca/about-us/news-room/news04191701.aspx> -  Deadline to apply is June 16, 2017. B.C. First Nations communities and organizations are
eligible to apply for up to $25,000 to support language immersion programming for children under five years old. Training on language nest strategies and good practices will be provided to up to three team members from each successful project.
Language Revitalization Planning Program (FPCC)<http://www.fpcc.ca/about-us/news-room/news04191701.aspx> - Deadline to apply is June 16, 2017. The purpose of this program is for
communities to develop strategic and sustainable language plans to guide their language revitalization work. Applicants are eligible to apply for up to $20,000 to support their language planning projects.

New Horizons for Seniors Program<https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/new-horizons-seniors-community-based.html#moreservices> – Deadline to apply is June 23, 2017. This federal grant program supports projects led or
inspired by seniors/Elders. The funding can support language revitalization work where Elders/seniors are involved in sharing their knowledge of the language. It can fund informal gatherings that bring Elders/seniors together, or with their communities and young people. It can support the creation of DVDs, books, recordings of Elders/senior speakers. New Horizons will be holding information sessions in April- follow the link to request to be on their mailing list and get future information.

2017. Applications for this sector must be used to benefit students by enhancing extracurricular opportunities. Local organizations can apply for funding up to $100,000 per year, regional organizations up to $225,000 per year, and province-wide organizations up to $250,000 a year.

Youth Grants<http://www.newrelationshiptrust.ca/funding/for-groups-organizations/youth-grants> – Taking applications until fund is exhausted. The New Relationship Trust (NRT) provides a maximum of

$2,000 to assist BC First Nation youth in their communities. Priority is given to groups and projects that demonstrate capacity building, leadership or mentorship for First Nation youth.

Community Fund for Canada’s 150th<http://communityfoundations.ca/cfc150/apply/> – Deadlines vary depending on location in B.C. The fund provides communities with
small grants to support local projects, distributed by participating community foundations from coast to coast. The fund supports projects that inspire a deeper understanding about the people, places and events that shape Canada and those that build vibrant and healthy communities with the broadest possible engagement of all Canadians including indigenous peoples, youth and groups that reflect Canada’s cultural diversity.

Education Support,<http://www.dcfund.ca/index.php?id=education-support> Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation – Deadline to apply is July 31, 2017. The focus of this fund is on
educational activities to support and encourage youth to pursue and complete their education with the goal of developing youth as future leaders of their communities.

Opportunities

First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) are inviting applications from B.C. First Nations applicants to serve on their Advisory Committee. The Advisory is made up of representatives from each of B.C.’s 34 Indigenous languages. Advisory Committee members are volunteers who act as a bridge between First Nations communities and FPCC by bringing ideas, advice and issues to the attention of the Board of Directors. course examines genetic affiliation, areal contact, typological features, and initiatives to sustain the vitality and diversity of BC First Nations Languages.
