[BCMA] Cowichan Valley Arts Council request

The Cowichan Valley Arts Council has recently acquired permission to use a large space adjacent to its existing gallery to expand and bring additional art experiences to the residents of the Cowichan Valley.  While the board and staff have run a small gallery for many years we are thinking that now is a good time for us to become more knowledgeable about the curator’s role in managing a gallery.  We are envisioning the role of the curator to be a facilitator and a nurturer of the arts, using their expertise to expand the horizons of artists and patrons.  While the Cowichan Valley Arts Council is too small to entertain the idea of hiring even a part-time curator on a permanent basis, we are intrigued by the possibility that someone out there has the knowledge to lead a group of dedicated individuals to improve their understanding of the curatorial role.  We are hoping and thinking that someone could lead a series of workshops/courses to do this.  Any ideas, advice or help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
