ART INSTRUCTOR
The Kamloops Art Gallery is seeking an enthusiastic person to deliver exhibition tours, art workshops and public programs to children, youth and adults.
The ideal candidate is pursuing or has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts and/or Education degree. They must have a willingness to learn, a passion for teaching and art. They should also have excellent public speaking skills and enjoy working with people of all ages. Strong organizational and computer skills (specifically Microsoft programs) are an asset.
The successful applicant will be available to teach some day, evening and weekend workshops. On average, art instructors work 12 hours/month.

Job Description
Art Instructor
As the principle art gallery of the Southern Interior, the Kamloops Art Gallery brings art, artists and communities together.
Principle Responsibility: The Art Instructor provides a standard of excellence in the facilitation of school and studio programs on- and off-site by conducting art-making workshops and guided exhibition tours.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
§ In consultation with the Education and Public Programs Director, developing and facilitating art programming for all ages and abilities
§ Assist guest artists and facilitators with workshops
§ Engage participants of all ages and abilities to provide them with an educational and enjoyable art experience
§ Developing visitors' knowledge of exhibitions through tours as needed
§ Ensuring the safety and security of all program participants
§ Ensuring the safety, security and maintenance of the works in the exhibition, while conducting tours in the Gallery
§ Organizing and cleaning the studios before and after each workshop
§ Organizing and monitoring supplies for workshops
Qualifications
§ Ability to contribute to the development of art programming
§ Innovative and responsive
§ Experienced working with children and youth
§ Demonstrated leadership qualities
§ Excellent communication skills
§ Ability to work well in a team
§ Positive role model for children and youth
