NOVEMBER FAMILY DROP-IN PROGRAMS

Explore the Okanagan Military Museum and discover the stories of the brave Okanagan men & women who served. Engage in activities and hear inspiring stories of the people who fought and the lasting impacts of the sacrifices these men and women made.

NOVEMBER LECTURE SERIES

Nov 1st | 12-1pm
Nov 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd | 5-6pm
Join us at the Okanagan Military Museum for a special lecture series highlighting the events of “The Great War”. Guest speakers will tell tales of WWI history with a focus on the lesser known stories of our region.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Nov 11th | 11:30am - 4:00pm
After the cenotaph ceremonies all are welcome to visit the Okanagan Military Museum to explore the stories of local heroes who served.

NEW EXHIBITION AT THE OKANAGAN HERITAGE MUSEUM
This exhibition, designed and produced with support from Ukrainian Canadian communities, celebrates the 126th anniversary of Ukrainian immigration to Canada and the contributions of Ukrainian Canadians to BC and the nation.

The story begins with the arrival of the first Ukrainians in Canada on September 7, 1891, and leads the visitor through the early years of settlement and hard work to experiences of war and internment. The exhibition also highlights the ongoing contributions of Ukrainians to British Columbia and the continuing celebration of Ukrainian traditions. A listening station provides first-hand stories from members of BC’s Ukrainian society. The exhibition also features beautiful objects, including pysanky, embroidery, wood carvings and clothing, on loan from Kelowna’s Dolyna Ukrainian Cultural Society.

Bread and Salt is on exhibit until January 27, 2018 at the Okanagan Heritage Museum.

UKRAINIAN EGG DECORATING WORKSHOP

Learn tips and techniques to decorate your own Ukrainian egg.

Sesqui-what? In 2017, Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary, or sesquicentennial. This anniversary is also known as Canada 150, or Cl50 for short. Visit a museum and explore diverse cultures, histories, and possibilities.
