** We Are Not Done Yet!
------------------------------------------------------------
August was another busy month at the O'Keefe Ranch with sold out Cowboy Dinner Shows, record numbers at our Family Fun Day, and a wait list for our Pioneer Children's Summer Camp. Our 150th Anniversary Year has been wonderful and our visitor numbers continue to grow. Thank you to our guests, volunteers, and community members for your continued support. The O'Keefe Ranch is open daily in September from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and the last day of the season is Sunday October 1. Our interpreters look forward to providing tours of the mansion and our teachers are ready for students to take part in the Educational School program for the remainder of the season. September is a great month for 55+ travelers to stop by for a visit of the Greenhow Museum exhibitions, dinner at Cattlemen's Club Restaurant, or a stay over in our RV Park. Warm days and cool nights this month makes for a great time of year to explore the Historic O'Keefe Ranch. Remember, the Ranch grounds are dog friendly (on
a leash please) and picnic lunches are allowed.

New at the O'Keefe Ranch! Yes that's right folks, we are offering 6 sessions of yoga with goats this month. Please bring your own yoga mat or towel. In case of rain the session will be moved from the grass to the pavilion. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. ** O'Keefe Family Reunion
------------------------------------------------------------
On Sunday Aug 6^th, 120 descendants of Cornelius O’Keefe gathered to celebrate the 150^th Anniversary of the O’Keefe family. His families with Alapetsa, Mary Ann and Elizabeth were well represented and came from many parts of North America to attend. The genealogy of Cornelius’s 3 families was displayed and family members had great fun looking up to see what generation they were from Cornelius. Family from the 3^rd to the 7^th generation were in attendance at the reunion. At this time Cornelius has a legacy of 8 generations. Everyone was busy visiting with one another and taking in all the activities and exploring the Ranch site throughout the day. Following a delicious lunch prepared by the Cattleman’s Club, Ken Mather, the former Manager/Curator of the Ranch for 22 years, provided a very informative talk on the beginnings of the Ranch and the impact Cornelius had on Vernon and the Okanagan Valley. The family members gathered in front of the Church for a group family photo
to cap the day’s events. Submitted by Eileen Giuliani (O'Keefe)
** From the Curator
------------------------------------------------------------
Celebrate Culture Days with our curator! Visit the Ranch on Saturday, September 30 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm for photography related activities for all ages. Drop in on our curator Carla-Jean Stokes in the Greenhow Museum to learn more about our collection of historic photographs and how we care for them. Check out some of our historic cameras, and take a turn with a stereoviewer. Visitors are encouraged to bring in their historical photographs and ask questions on how best to store them. We will also have a photo booth on the grounds, and we will be bringing out some of our costume collection for visitors to dress up and snap a photograph. Culture Days activities are free with regular admission.
