> The West Moberly First Nations (WMFN) has an exciting opportunity for an early career professional to support development of its heritage and cultural tourism development interests. WMFN has already made important investments with a range of economic and community infrastructure and planning to serve as a foundation for this work. It now seeks to conduct research, build community capacity, develop strategic linkages and prepare action plans to strengthen further participation in these sectors.

> Duties: The Coordinator will work under the supervision of the project consultant with community advisory support to undertake the following activities for a one-year term effective May 1:
>
>
> · support community engagement & education to identify issues/interests in heritage conservation & cultural tourism
> · investigate and obtain specifications for artifact storage and presentation
> · with the support of a community liaison researcher(s):
> (i) identify & work to procure existing & new local cultural artifacts within the community
> (ii) research the history & background of cultural artifacts with creation of a data-base
> (iii) inventory and catalog of cultural artifacts (description, photo)
> (iv) prepare heritage display and descriptive resource material (print, media, online) for progressive installation at a new WMFN heritage facility
> (v) investigate cultural artifact repatriation from museum collections
> (vi) research and catalogue individual and collective interests in cultural/eco-tourism appropriate to the community, training needs and business opportunities
> · support public engagement in cultural functions (functions, special events & activities)
> · develop a local and regional network for promotion of WMFN cultural heritage and tourism
> · review and maintain reference library on cultural heritage & tourism resources
> · participate in relevant training (self-directed study, webinars, on-site training)
> · support community outreach education, organizational development (WM Heritage Society)
> · other duties as directed.

> Qualifications:
>
>
> · Prefer that they have recently completed a degree or diploma in a program such as Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Resource Management, Archival or Museum Studies
> · Qualification as a university coop program or employment intern will be considered
> · Experience in community heritage/artifact conservation is preferred
> · Experience and training in indigenous cultural tourism is an asset
> · Proficiency in computer and (MS) software applications
> · Fluent spoken and written English are required;
> · Demonstrated interest in northern history and culture
> · Due to the location of the position, candidates must possess a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
> · The successful applicant will be required to provide a police check before hiring
> · Be prepared to work on a staggered work week (8 – 4:30) with alternate Fridays off; and some possibility of extended hours including evenings and weekends
> · Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications in line with comparable early career entry-level position
