Victoria Classic Boat Festival Welcomes Media Onboard
This coming Labour Day Weekend (Friday, August 31 – Sunday, September 2, 2018) sees the return of the Maritime Museum of BC’s “Classic Boat Festival” to Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Over 100 hundred boats are expected to descend on Victoria and the public are welcome to tour the docks to view these historic vessels, and take in a special floating exhibit, activities, speakers, and events surrounding the role of BC's fishing vessels, yachts, and shipyards that played an important role on the "home front" of WWII.
The Maritime Museum of BC invites members of the media to join us onboard WWII-era boat, Midnight Sun, at 2 PM on Thursday, August 30^th
The vessel will depart from Victoria’s inner harbour at 2 PM, cruising to Ogden Point, before returning to the inner harbour. Festival Chair, William Noon, and the Maritime Museum of BC’s Executive Director, David Leverton, will be available for interviews onboard the vessel. Media is also welcome to document the other historic vessels arriving to the harbour, for the opening of the Festival. The return trip is expected to last up to two hours. The docks along the inner harbour will also be open, for media to speak with boat owners.
The Victoria Classic Boat Festival opens at the Inner Harbour on Friday, August 31 and runs until Sunday, September 2. A press release with full details on the Festival can be found here (http://mmbc.bc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Press-release-Victoria-Classic-Boat-Festival.pdf) .
As the Midnight Sun has limited capacity, please RSVP with your party number to info at mmbc.bc.ca (mailto:info at mmbc.bc.ca) no later than August 15, 2018. Early responses are encouraged, as we will reserve space on a first-come, first-serve basis.
