** A message from our President:

"So much is happening for the Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society (VAHMS) now that we are getting closer to the month of May which is the nationally recognized Asian Heritage Month.

Across Canada there are many preparations happening and as president of our organization I am pleased to say that our planning is in the final stages to guarantee another very successful celebration in May and at other times of the year!"

Grace Chin, Leo Cunanan and Alvin Tang bring many talents to their roles and we are so pleased to have them working with us. We also have Arthur Ng joining us to eventually take over the duties of our Treasurer, John Leung.

We are very appreciative of the assistance and leadership shown by our many volunteers and welcome them to assist us again to have memorable events celebrating Asian arts and culture. Our Directors, Advisers, Partners and Executive Director, Lalia Fraser are all important to our success and their efforts on our behalf are so much appreciated!

explorASIAN 2018

Applications due:  Friday March 2nd, 2018

The Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society (VAHMS) is now accepting submissions for promotion of events for the explorASIAN 2018 Festival.

This festival recognizes National Asian Heritage Month each May by building bridges between mainstream and Pan Asian communities in the celebration of multiculturalism and diversity.

This year's festival, "Pan Asian Routes" will place a special focus on Pan Asian migration and the legacy, culture and accomplishments of the growing and diverse communities of Canadians with Pan Asian heritage.

As a non-profit society, we provide a free service to support our partners by promoting Pan Asian events through our explorASIAN channels.

If you would like to join us, please complete the submission form and send a JPG image of your logo and event poster through the buttons below by Friday, March 2nd 2018.   This will ensure your inclusion in the Vancouver Courier, explorASIAN program guide, our website and social media platforms.

** explorASIAN 2018 Opening Launch

Please mark your calendars for the Opening of Asian Heritage Month & explorASIAN Festival 2018 on Saturday, April 21st 2018, from 10:00 am to noon.

The Ceremony will take place at the Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre (https://explorasian.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef4814393ece270f4ef2e54a4&id=f6ce43161a&e=f48c35feb9) , Simon Fraser University, 149 West Hastings Street, Vancouver (https://explorasian.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef4814393ece270f4ef2e54a4&id=c0d7d79524&e=f48c35feb9) .

The event is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served.


** explorASIAN 2018 Recognition and Awards Gala

We will be recognizing the community service of several Pan Asian leaders at the explorASIAN 2018 Recognition and Awards Gala on the evening of Saturday, June 2, 2018. VAHMS is now accepting donations for the Silent Auction that forms part of the explorASIAN 2018 Recognition and Awards Gala.  The Gala is VAHMS sole fundraising event, and we appreciate your help!
