The Vancouver Police Museum is excited to offer the following opportunity:

*Museum Interpreter*

The Vancouver Police Museum is on the hunt for a creative, engaging and
enthusiastic individual to add to our staff through the Canada Summer Jobs
program.

*A little about our museum*

The Vancouver Police Museum is ranked one of the best police museums in the
world by the International Police Association. Its public programs are
ranked among the best in the city by Yelp.com, andcanoe.ca rated the
museum's Sins of the City program one of the World's Ten Best City Walks.
Housed in a heritage building that was once the Coroner's Court, the City
Morgue and the city's autopsy facilities, the Vancouver Police Museum
offers interactive school and public programs in forensic sciences, crime
history and law enforcement that satisfy major curriculum requirements of
the B.C. Ministry of Education.

*A little about this opportunity*

This opportunity will provide a range of experiences from facilitating
exciting education and public programs to researching new programs and
evaluating current ones. Our new team member will play a leading role in
marketing the museum and its programs. The work pace is fast, hands-on and
will involve almost every area of museum operations.

*This opportunity comes with Responsibilities*

   - Conceive and develop exciting, engaging, fun-filled programs for
   elementary, secondary and ESL students
   - Conduct guided tours inside the museum and walking tours in the
   museum's historic  neighbourhood
   - Create materials for participants’ use in museum programs and special
   events
   - Assist in greeting visitors to the museum


*Who we're looking for*

   - Ability to shine independently yet work collegially with the museum
   team
   - Excellent communication skills as a writer and marketer, coupled with
   public speaking abilities that engage and inspire museum audiences
   - Strong basic computer skills, mainly MS Office, A fast learner, able
   to quickly understand and share the history of crime and law enforcement in
   the city
   - Full-time student for the coming academic year

*Position Details*: August 1 - September 8, 2018

*Remuneration*: $13hr, 40 hrs/wk
