2018 Summer Student Program posting

 

Position: Museum Assistant (temporary)

 

Job description: The student will participate in the day-to-day operation of
the museum and archives and receive training in the management of each,
undertake specific projects promoting the museum online and report to and be
exposed to the working of the Board of Directors of a not-for-profit
organization. 

 

The student will report directly to and be mentored by the Executive
Director and Assistant Director, and would additionally engage with members
of the Board on matters relating to committees and project work. The student
would also be mentored by volunteers with skills specific to the collection
of artifacts and archival materials.

 

Start date: Monday 21st May 2018

 

Duration: 14 weeks, 35 hours per week

 

Pay: 14:00 hour

 

The position will require working 9:00 to 4:30 daily and will include
working some weekends.

 

Qualifications: The applicant will be enrolled in a post-graduate program in
museum studies, archival management, cultural asset management, or
historical studies. 

 

In addition to be eligible to participate individuals must:

*	be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
*	have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic
year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next
academic year;
*	be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee
protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection
Act and
*	be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant
provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
