Wordpress is a fantastic content management system that is user-friendly and highly robust.

Many years ago, I built the website for a museum I was working at on wordpress.com and I am not even close to being a skilled programmer. As the site grew, we transitioned to wordpress.org and eventually hired a designer who continued to use Wordpress as the CMS.

Depending on your budget, it might be worth considering just starting with wordpress.org (as it's more flexible and customizable), in which case you'll need to use your own hosting service.

Subject: [BCMA] Website Redesign Information

Hello BCMA Members!

Our Board is currently looking to completely redesign our website. They are looking to hire someone to design a WordPress based website that, once build, we will be able to fully manage without the need for coding experience in house. We would love to hear suggestions from the greater BC museum community!

Is there a service or company that you can recommend? Have you had success (or cautionary tales) working with a particular WordPress hosting service?

Thank you very much!
