Sidney Family Day Weekend Lego* Brick Event is a must see!

Sidney, B.C., February 7th, 2019 - The Lego Brick event is hosted this year
by the Sidney Museum, it is a vibrant two-day festival, and all members of
the family can join in the LEGO fun. Last year over 6000 people came to
Sidney on Family Day Weekend. This is one of several Family Day events
offered in Sidney for 2019. The event hours of operation are Daily, 10:00
A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Admission is always by donation.

Lego, derived from the Danish leg godt (play well) began in the workshop of
Ole Kirk Christiansen (1891 - 1958) who began his career as a maker of
wooden toys.  With the introduction of the Automatic Binding Bricks in 1949,
and the modern brick design in 1958, Lego began a toy revolution which
culminated in Lego becoming beloved by generations, and standing the test of
time.

LEGO Exhibition

Sidney Museum

Old Post Office Building - 2423 Beacon Avenue

Our newest presentation of the ever-popular Lego Exhibition is celebrating
over 60 years of Lego imagination.  Dozens of Star Wars themed Lego models
provide a special focus for this exciting exhibit, rounded out by hundreds
of other Lego models including Hogwarts Castle and Lego model of the Bugatti
Chiron automobile. Our guests will learn about the history of the many Lego
models on display, challenge themselves with our trivia wall, and enjoy a
special opportunity to guess the number of bricks and weight of the giant
Lego Pyramid. In our theatre room there is a film on the origin and
development of the Lego building system.

6-foot LEGO Build

Old Post Office Building - 2423 Beacon Avenue

Join Canada's only professional LEGO builder, Robin Sather, for two full
days of LEGO fun. He will interact with kids and adults alike, answering
questions, explaining the dynamic process of planning and building a giant
LEGO creation. This giant model will feature the 1900's "Cordwood Express"
from the V&S Railway.

Interactive LEGO Mosaic Build

Sidney Museum

Help build a massive LEGO mosaic sponsored by Peninsula Co-Op. Participants
will each build a small section to contribute to the much larger colourful
creation.

Sidney Pier Hotel

Join the Victoria LEGO Users Group for two full days of LEGO fun. Explore a
huge original LEGO build and chat with the VicLug team about everything
LEGO!

LEGO Scavenger Hunt

Sidney Museum

Pick-up your LEGO treasure map at the Sidney Museum and enjoy exploring
Sidney and checking out the LEGO exhibits displayed at various locations
around town. When you have completed your map, bring it back to the Sidney
Museum and enter to win one of several LEGO prizes! First prize is a Star
Wars set: "First Order Heavy Assault Walker," and standing at over 13" high,
this fearsome walker consists of 1,300 pieces.
