Hello all,
Are you involved in or planning linked open data (LOD) projects as a way to share your collections data? Are you interested in pursuing LOD? If so, I'd like to touch base with you and hear more about the work you're doing, and the work you want to do.
The Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) has struck a new committee to advise on the future of LOD projects in museums. I've been asked to provide a BC perspective, the trouble is, I'm not aware of any LOD projects in BC museums. I've spoken to university librarians who are actively publishing open data, and expanding their efforts in that way, but projects by museums specifically - nothing so far. Ideally I'd like to inform the committee about the level of resourcing applied to LOD projects now, and an indication of the kinds project we could do with more resources.
The first committee meeting is Feb 19th. If you have any information you'd like to share in the next week or so, please contact me.
Best, Dave
